Yes, I am legally ordained and authorized to be a minister/officiate for weddings in the state of Massachusetts.
How much do you charge?
As each ceremony is unique, I prefer to discussing pricing either in person or over the phone.
Do we need marriage license?
To be legally married in MA, YES you do. Please see the resources tab on this site. We will discuss this more in detail when we plan your ceremony.
Can we do premarital counseling?
Of course. Many couples find that this helps with deepening and strengthening their relationship before their marriage.
How much time are you willing to spend with us and/or members of our family if there are important issues or family dynamics that require sensitivity?
I am willing to take all the time you need to plan your special day. My wedding day ceremony planning includes 2 hours of planning. If you need more time then that is no problem, but please be aware that there is an hourly fee.
How long does it take to create a ceremony?
It is different for every ceremony. Ideally, for a wedding ceremony it should take several months, as I customize each ceremony and that takes time. Remember this is your special day and we want everything to go as smoothly and as perfectly to your dream as possible. Even if your thinking there may not be enough time until your ceremony, please give me a call and we can go over things. I also do funerals and baptisms. When possible I like to take at least a week to prepare the ceremony.
How much say do we have in the ceremony script?
You have the most say. I will guide you along the way to help your ceremony be what you envision.
Can we incorporate cultural, religious, or personal traditions?
There are many traditions that couples share in on their big day. Yes, I am always willing to help in those traditions. We will discuss exactly what you are looking for during the ceremony planning.
How would you describe your approach to working with interfaith couples?
I think that all traditions and faiths are important. Therefore, I will do my best to meet what you are looking for and expecting on your big day.
Do we get to review and approve the ceremony script line-by-line before the wedding?
Yes, by all means you get to review and approve it line-by-line.
Can you write my ceremony?
Yes, I offer ceremony writing and ceremony coaching. Please see the guide services tab.
Are we allowed to write our own vows?
Yes, I encourage couples to write their own vows. I am here to help if you get stuck.
How long does a ceremony generally last?
Most wedding ceremonies tend to be about 30 minutes. Most weddings will be within that time frame. Reminding you that the more elements you put into your big day the longer the service. This is something to discuss more in detail when we plan your ceremony.
Do you travel for ceremonies and how far are you willing to travel to a wedding venue?
Yes, I can travel for ceremonies. The first 25 miles from my location are included in your wedding ceremony price. If I am needed to travel beyond those 25 miles there is an additional charge. I can also do overnight travel if needed.
Do you attend dress rehearsals?
Yes, I am able to attend your dress rehearsal. I do included up to one hour for dress rehearsal in your wedding ceremony planning. If I am needed past that of coarse I am happy to stay, however: there is an extra charge of $50.00 per hour. (additional travel costs may apply).
Do you lead the wedding dress rehearsal?
Yes, I often leads the dress rehearsal, guiding the wedding party through the processional, standing positions, and recessional. However, if you have a wedding planner or venue coordinator, they frequently take charge of directing the timing and cues, while the officiant focuses on the specific ceremony flow.
Will you stay for the meal?
A meal is not at all necessary. If I am able, I will stay for about an hour to greet you, your quests, and family.
Will you need a microphone?
Yes, I will need a microphone, this insures that every guest will be able to hear me. A microphone is usually provided by your DJ / Band.
If you choose an intimate ceremony, then a microphone is not needed.
Do you need a pulpit?
It is generally helpful. Although it is not need.
What do you wear to officiate?
Typically, I wear a black dress or a black robe for weddings and funerals/memorial services, in this way the focus is not on me.
I will wear a white dress or white robe for baptisms or blessings.
